Loyd
and Monique Wellesley
For 24 years Loyd Wellesley had a career in Business
Management and Consulting. He wanted a change in careers and decided
to attend Massage School. Loyd graduated in 1994 from the Asten
Center of Therapeutic Massage in Dallas, Texas. He began working for
a Chiropractor and started his private practice, Body-n-Balance
Therapeutic Massage. His training includes the following
modalilities of massage: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Triggerpoint,
Neuromuscular facilitation, Reflexology, Pregnancy, Infant,
Geriatric, and Chair. He is a Professional member of the American
Massage Therapy Association , and served as Chairman of the local
arm of the A.M.T.A. in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Loyd began teaching adult learners basic massage techniques in
the Dallas, Mesquite, Plano and other Independent school districts,
and was honored by receiving a sponsorship to become a Massage
Therapy instructor for all of Texas! He wrote and developed advanced
curriculum for several massage schools in Texas, where he continued
to teach his advanced classes. To his knowledge, the curriculum he
wrote but did not copyright is still being used to educate new
students. Loyd has also taught classes at Del Mar College in Corpus
Christi and was asked to be the keynote speaker of many facilities
throughout the State including Texas A&M University.
Loyd established a partnership with the Omni Hotels in Corpus
Christi over eight years ago. He serves as an advisor to his wife,
Monique Wellesley, who now manages and operates Body-n-Balance
Therapeutic Massage.
Monique Wellesley graduated from Massage school in 1999. She is
proficient and certified in Deep tissue, Geriatric, Swedish, Chair,
Pregnancy, Infant, and spa treatments. She met her future husband
Loyd at school, and when she graduated he asked her to manage his
studio at the Corpus Christi Omni Hotel. The spa's business has
grown by leaps and bounds, and now has eight therapist on their
team.
Monique is a professional business woman as well as a Massage
Therapist and her mission is helping people and animals. Monique
started two successful companies: Sister Cookies, an online
bakery, and Nails on Wheels in which she would travel to hospitals,
retirement homes and personal residences for people who were unable
to care for themselves. Monique is working on a Masters Degree in
Communication/Marketing.
Loyd and Monique are avid supporters and are active with SNAPUS (www.snapus.org)
in San Antonio. Both are animal lovers and participate in animal
rescues throughout the State of Texas.
